We are delighted to confirm that the Oxford Philharmonic Orchestra will be playing at the Newbury Spring Festival on Saturday the 21st of May, in place of the Russian Philharmonic Orchestra. The original programme remains unchanged, with an evening of popular romantic favourites from Russia and Finland. The great Tchaikovsky violin concerto performed by one of England’s leading virtuosos Chloe Hanslip is followed by Sibelius’ powerful and dramatic 5th symphony, with its famous ending inspired by a flight of swans. The concert will be conducted by our very own Founder and Music Director Marios Papadopoulos.
“Hanslip seduces the senses with a compelling suppleness of dynamic, phrasing and senza-vibrato purity.” The Strad
