International Touring Manager
Overview
The Oxford Philharmonic, one of the UK’s leading orchestras seeks a highly-motivated International Touring Manager. We are looking for a well-organised, conscientious, and friendly person, who is willing to work both on their own initiative and as part of a small team. This is a new role in a fast-developing organisation, in addition to our season at the Sheldonian Theatre, Oxford and London appearances, recent and future touring includes Germany, Austria, New York, Dubai, and Japan. The chosen candidate will liaise closely with the General Manager and the Artistic Planning Manager.
This is a new role, part-time or full-time depending on the candidate.

Job Profile
Main purpose of job:
To work with the Music Director, General Manager and Artistic Planning Manager to initiate and grow the Orchestra’s touring overseas.
Principal responsibilities:
- Working alongside Music Director, General Manager and Artistic Planning Manager to devise touring projects for future seasons
- Liaising with touring agents to sell touring ideas, and to build and develop relationships with a view to securing future tours
- Making direct approaches to European, Asian and American presenters to sell concerts and tours
- Travelling independently, and on tour with the Orchestra, to maintain and develop relationships with overseas presenters and to sell future ideas
- Liaising with the Chief Operations Officer on budgeting for touring overseas
- Attending conferences such as IAMA, AAPPAC, Classical:NEXT, to promote the Oxford Philharmonic’s activities and brand
- Act as ambassador for Oxford Philharmonic Orchestra in all dealings with agents, artists and presenters
Applicant Profile:
Essential abilities/qualifications:
- At least 5-10 years’ experience in the arts including orchestral touring in particular
- Detailed knowledge of orchestral music
- Detailed knowledge of conductors, instrumentalists and singers
- Experience in sales
- Excellent communication skills
- Excellent organisation skills and attention to detail
- Good IT skills and experience using Microsoft Office software
- Ability to juggle multiple tasks
Preferred abilities/qualifications:
- Experience of liaising with agents and presenters, and negotiating fees
- Network of music industry contacts in UK and abroad
- Experience of creating budgets in excel
- Knowledge of other languages is useful but not essential
