Introducing: Theodosia Ntokou
The exciting emerging talent of Greek pianist Theodosia Ntokou joins the Oxford Philharmonic Orchestra for a night of Shostakovich and Rachmaninov. The playfulness and beauty of the former’s second Piano Concerto is followed by the splendour of the latter’s second Symphony. Ahead of this exciting night at the heart of Oxford Piano Festival 2026, let’s meet our pianist.
Born on the island of Rhodes, Greece, Ntokou began her piano studies aged twelve. Her pursuits included 32-hour trips from Rhodes to Athens for weekly sessions at the Greek National Conservatory before moving there full-time at the age of sixteen. She later studied in Berlin and New York.
In her career so far, Ntokou has performed in an extensive range of festivals and events across Europe. Perhaps most notable among these is at Progetto Martha Argerich, the festival and concert series curated by the renowned and eponymous pianist. Ntokou has long been a protégé of Argerich, the pair have amazed with a duet of Shostakovich’s Concertino for two pianos and a remarkable four-hand piano arrangement of Beethoven’s Pastoral Symphony for Warner Classics.
Critically acclaimed, award-winning and mentored by one widely considered to be among the greatest pianists of all time, Theodosia Ntokou continues to classical renditions of masterpieces and collaborations with the profound partners in music that she has built up over the years.

The festival is thrilled to present one of the most exciting emerging instrumental talents, Greek pianist Theodosia Ntokou, who has counted Martha Argerich as her mentor since 2009. Theodosia joins the Oxford Philharmonic Orchestra for all the fresh air, spontaneity and playfulness of Shostakovich’s most prominent piano concerto – followed here by Rachmaninov’s symphony of infernal whirlwinds, passionate declarations of love and heartfelt longing for peace.
