FUNomusica concerts return for the 2026/27 Season

22 hours ago   |   Oxford Philharmonic Orchestra   |

On Sunday 18 October, the Oxford Philharmonic Orchestra embarks on its first of three FUNomusica Family Concerts of the season, providing a sensational day out for families with young children.

Themed as a ‘Halloween Spooktacular’, the programme is presented by Alasdair Malloy, particularly experienced in devising these exciting concerts. With music from Coco, The Addams Family and The Nightmare Before Christmas, as well as compositions from Gustav Holst and Camille Saint-Saëns, the afternoon is set to be filled with a wonderful mix of melodies.

An hour before the 3 pm start, there will be plenty of pre-concert arts and crafts to get stuck in, also falling into our spooky theme!

Tickets are available on our website here, £10 per adult, £5 per child with a family ticket (2 adults, 2 children) for £25. Join us in the Olivier Hall on Woodstock Road.

This concert is targeted at children aged 4-8, with younger children and siblings welcome. In January, for the first time, the OPO will present two performances of the FUNomusica programme ‘The Musical Paintbox’, one for ages 4-8 and another for ages 8-12. We hope to see you soon!

It’s Halloween! Disguise yourself in a spooky manner and come along to join our Master of the Ghostly Revels, Alasdair Malloy, who will introduce music guaranteed to give you goosebumps. You will hear the spooktacular Oxford Philharmonic perform mysterious music about witches, ghosts, vampires, ghouls and gnomes and you will go dancing with the Devil in a special story version of Saint-Saëns’s Danse Macabre. We will need help from the Ghostbusters!
