Vengerov Plays Brahms
Vengerov Plays Brahms
Brahms Violin Concerto in D major, Op. 77 (Please note this change in programme)
Tchaikovsky Symphony No. 4 in F minor, Op. 36
Maxim Vengerov violin
Marios Papadopoulos conductor
Our season bursts into life with strong emotions. Few composers captured life’s struggles as vividly as Tchaikovsky. ‘This is fate,’ he wrote in 1877 as he grappled with the opening notes of his fourth symphony, ‘it hangs above your head like the sword of Damocles.’ By the final pages, Tchaikovsky had found hope from despair. Maxim Vengerov joins Marios Papadopoulos for Brahms’s Violin Concerto. A season opener not to be missed.
