Fourth Symphony
Fourth Symphony
Beethoven Piano Concerto No. 2 in B flat major, Op. 19
Beethoven Symphony No. 4 in B flat major, Op. 60
Marios Papadopoulos conductor/piano
Beethoven beyond the clichés. Our celebration of history’s most pivotal composer continues with music that is often overlooked. Before his iconic Fifth and Ninth symphonies came Beethoven’s Fourth – a work driven not so much by political argument as by a sense of joy and delight in music itself. Before it at this concert, Marios Papadopoulos is both soloist and conductor in the composer’s first completed piano concerto, a work channeling the elegance of Mozart but with more than a few hints at Beethoven’s musical revolutions to come.
