Job Profile:

The Oxford Philharmonic Orchestra, one of the UK’s leading orchestras, seeks a highly motivated Ticketing and Events Officer, to play a key role in our activities.

The chosen candidate will assist and work under instruction from the Chief Operating Officer and other Directors. 

We are looking for a highly organised, conscientious and friendly person, who is willing to work both on their own initiative and as part of a small team. The main responsibility is to run the Orchestra’s Box Office during our concert season, including up to 40 concerts as well as masterclasses, workshops, Family Concerts and the annual Oxford Piano Festival in the summer.

The Orchestra also puts on a number of high-profile events each year, and the successful candidate will be responsible for handling invitations, processing RSVPs, creating guest lists and putting together seating plans. 

This is a permanent, full-time role, based in our London office. The holiday entitlement is 20 days plus 8 bank holidays. Occasional travel to Oxford will be required. Some evening and weekend work will be necessary for concerts and fundraising events, but an in-lieu scheme is in place to cover out of hours working. 

Principal responsibilities:

  • Running the Orchestra’s Box Office (using Spektrix), setting up events and selling tickets
  • Running the Box Office on-site at Oxford concert venues
  • Coordinating a small team of front of house staff and dealing with any customer enquiries/issues on the day
  • Working with the COO to arrange ticket allocations for sponsors and guests
  • Handling invitations and processing RSVPs for fundraising events
  • Liaising with fundraising event venues and suppliers, bringing the whole event together
  • General administrative duties
  • Drawing and collating ticket sale and occupancy reports from Spektrix

Essential abilities/qualifications:

  • Education to degree level
  • Passion for classical music, particularly orchestral music
  • Excellent organisational skills and meticulous attention to detail
  • Good IT skills (including Microsoft Excel)
  • Ability to juggle multiple tasks
  • Strong communication skills
  • Excellent telephone manner
  • Motivated team-player

Desirable abilities/qualifications:

  • 2+ years Box Office experience, but candidates with no ticketing experience may also apply
  • Degree in music
