Following the Government’s advice and the subsequent closure of venues across the country, it is with great regret that our events until the end of 2020 have had to be cancelled.
We sincerely apologise for the disappointment this will cause our audiences but hope you will understand that the decision to cancel has the primary aim of ensuring the health, safety and wellbeing of our artists, musicians, staff, audiences and the community at large. You will be glad to hear that we are planning to make brand new video recordings of behind closed doors performances for online viewing this Autumn. Please keep checking on oxfordphil.com and our social media platforms where any updates will be posted.
Like many financially independent arts charities who receive no government subsidy, this is a huge and unprecedented period of uncertainty for the Oxford Philharmonic Orchestra and these cancellations will result in a significant financial loss with many challenging months ahead. This will have a devastating impact on our freelance musicians and staff as well as affecting the work we do in the community in schools, hospitals and with Oxford University students. Your support is more crucial than ever as we look ahead to how we can sustain the organisation for the foreseeable and long-term future.
Our thoughts and sympathy are with all those impacted by coronavirus. Thank you for your understanding and support, and please stay healthy.
