About the event

BEETHOVEN Symphony No. 4 in B flat major, Op. 60
BEETHOVEN Piano Concerto No. 5 in E flat major, Op. 73, ‘Emperor’

Marios Papadopoulos - piano/conductor

Sandwiched between Beethoven’s mighty 3rd and 5th symphonies, the 4th has a prevailing sunny disposition that serves as the foil to its neighbours’ forbidding power. The last piano concerto in his set imparts a unique blend of physical and spiritual energy that perfectly complements the relaxed symphony whilst epitomising humanity’s capacity to triumph over adversity.

Pre-concert Recital, 7pm
Available to concert ticket holders Beethoven violin and piano sonatas performed by the Philomusica’s Concertmasters.
