Benjamin Britten’s musical accomplishments extended into the realms of accompaniment and conducting – notably of Schubert and Mozart. He had a particular affection for Mozart’s Sinfonia Concertante, clearly the inspiration for his own youthful bright-toned neo-classical Double Concerto, which makes a rare but appropriate appearance here.
