Bath Abbey
Choir of New College, Oxford
Edward Higginbottom - conductor
Oxford Philomusica makes its Bath debut with a concert of wonderful Baroque music performed with the Choir of New College, Oxford. Director Edward Higginbottom and New College Choir are rightly renowned for their performance of the baroque repertoire, and this performance of Bach’s brilliant Magnificat in Bath’s historic Abbey promises the audience a memorable experience.
This concert will also showcase the fine soloists of Oxford Philomusica in Bach’s Third Brandenburg for strings and two examples of Telemann’s inexhaustible musical inventiveness – the splendidly ceremonial trumpet dominated Concerto in D, and his Concerto in E for the delightfully intimate trio of flute, oboe d’amore and viola d’amore.
