Mahan Esfahani - harpsichord/director
The Soloists of Oxford Philomusica
Variously praised for his ‘daring and fiery performances’ (The Times) and as ‘the leading harpsichordist of his generation’ (Opera Today), Iranian-born Mahan Esfahani is a young musician building an unparalleled international reputation, the first harpsichordist to be named a BBC Radio 3 ‘New Generation Artist’. For his debut at St George’s with Oxford Philomusica, and following his best-selling recital at the 2011 Proms, he performs Bach’s gregarious Concerto in E, the centrepiece of a programme dominated by the composer, and delivered with the sensitivity and vibrance that makes his performances so striking.
‘The harpsichord comes out of hiding … magnificent.’
