Piano Concerto No. 23 in A major, K. 488
Symphony No. 40 in G minor, K. 550
Ingrid Fliter piano
Marios Papadopoulos conductor
Ingrid Fliter makes her festival debut in the centerpiece of this concert at the Sheldonian Theatre with the Oxford Philharmonic Orchestra. She plays one of Mozart’s best-loved piano concertos, finished in 1786 just before the premiere of The Marriage of Figaro and sharing the opera’s airborne inspiration from first note to last. Surrounding the A major concerto’s combination of radiance and eloquence are two of Mozart’s most dramatic symphonies, including all the foreboding and vitality of his second-to-last, number 40.
The concert is scheduled to end at approximately 10 pm.
