Études, Op. 25
Three Movements from Petrushka
Beatrice Rana, hailed as ‘the most faultless of young pianists’ by The Washington Post, makes her festival debut with a mixed recital at Merton College reflecting the longstanding creative dialogue between France and Russia. She begins with the most perfect set of Etudes ever committed to paper. After Chopin, we hear all the delicacy and brilliance of Ravel’s five paintings in music while the charismatic Italian ends with all the colour and verve of Stravinsky’s depiction of puppets come mischievously to life.
The concert is scheduled to end at approximately 10 pm.
