OCMS Performance Opportunities Information for Applicants

The Oxford Philharmonic Orchestra and the Oxfordshire County Music Service provide performance opportunities that are essential to a musician’s overall development. We offer the chance to experience high-level orchestral playing, solo, chamber music and concerto performances.

This year’s Young Artists’ Platform will take place on: Saturday 24 November 2018, 6.30pm.

Oxfordshire Junior Concerto Competition

Founded in 2012, the Oxfordshire Concerto Competition is split into senior and junior categories. This year sees the return of the Junior Competition, which allows young musicians to compete for the opportunity to perform a concerto movement with the Oxfordshire County Youth Orchestra in the final round. The winner will receive a cash prize of £500 and will get to perform a full concerto with OCYO in a future season.

Friday 9 November 2018, from 4pm
Centre for Music, Bayswater Rd, Oxford OX3 9FF (Entrance through Music Service)

Applicants will be invited to perform a programme in front of the judging panel. You should prepare two contrasting pieces or movements totalling 6-8 minutes. For those auditioning for the Apprenticeship Scheme, there will be a short sight-reading extract from standard orchestral repertoire, which will be available for you to look at thirty minutes prior to your audition. Candidates must arrange their own accompanist if required.
