The Oxford Philharmonic Orchestra and the Oxfordshire County Music Service provide performance opportunities that are essential to a musician’s overall development. We offer the chance to experience high-level orchestral playing, solo, chamber music and concerto performances.

Receive coaching and join the Oxford Philharmonic Orchestra in a rehearsal before their evening concert.
Showcase your talent in Oxford’s world-renowned Sheldonian Theatre with a short solo or chamber music recital and you will also receive an award of £100 to
apply towards your music lessons.
This year’s Young Artists’ Platform will take place on: Saturday 24 November 2018, 6.30pm.
Founded in 2012, the Oxfordshire Concerto Competition is split into senior and junior categories. This year sees the return of the Junior Competition, which allows young musicians to compete for the opportunity to perform a concerto movement with the Oxfordshire County Youth Orchestra in the final round. The winner will receive a cash prize of £500 and will get to perform a full concerto with OCYO in a future season.

Applicants will be invited to perform a programme in front of the judging panel. You should prepare two contrasting pieces or movements totalling 6-8 minutes. For those auditioning for the Apprenticeship Scheme, there will be a short sight-reading extract from standard orchestral repertoire, which will be available for you to look at thirty minutes prior to your audition. Candidates must arrange their own accompanist if required.
Concerto Competition Semi-final
Friday 30 November 2018, 7pm
St Anne’s College, Oxford, Mary Ogilvie Lecture Theatre
Up to eight competitors will each perform a recital programme lasting 8 - 12 minutes, in front of an audience and panel of judges. Repertoire may be the same as that performed in the first round of the competition.
Concerto Competition Final
Sunday 10 February 2019, 7.30pm
Selected finalists will each perform one movement of a concerto, with the Oxfordshire County Youth Orchestra, conducted by Marios Papadopoulos, in front of an audience and panel of distinguished judges. The winner will be announced the same evening.
