TAKEMITSU Three Film Scores for String Orchestra
MOZART Piano Concerto No. 21 in C major, K. 467, ‘Elvira Madigan’
RICHARD STRAUSS Le Bourgeois Gentilhomme, Op. 60

David Greilsammer - piano
Marios Papadopoulos - conductor

Takemitsu’s atmospheric film music – a jazz-inflected score for Jose Torres, a desolate depiction of Black Rain, and an insouciant waltz from Face of Another – prefaces Mozart’s best-loved Piano Concerto, for which the Philomusica is joined by the outstanding Mozart interpreter, and Sony Classical Artist, David Greilsammer. In latter-day Lully mode, Richard Strauss’ neo-baroque suite furnishes a fizzing finale.
