John Lill - piano
John Lill’s great artistry and profound knowledge of piano repertoire has rightly earned him the title of ‘the pianist’s pianist’. In this opening recital of the 2012 Piano Festival he will present the last of Haydn’s piano sonatas along with three key piano works from the 19th century: Brahms’ celebrated Handel Variations, Robert Schumann’s memories of childhood and Liszt’s great Piano Sonata in B minor, dedicated to Schumann.
