Our FUNomusica Family concert series has now become a firmly established highlight of the orchestra’s concert season. Since the first concert in April 2009, our family audiences have got bigger and bigger as well as noisier and noisier!
These concerts are different. No sitting stiffly and listening raptly: they encourage audiences of all ages to have fun with music. It’s OK to move, make a noise and join in.
The concerts are created specifically with younger audiences in mind and are especially suitable for children aged 4‐8, but all the family is welcome: mums, dads, brothers, sisters, aunts, uncles or grandparents!
Our FUNomusica family concerts are being developed in partnership with Oxford City Council and are held at Oxford Town Hall as part of their series of Funday events. As well as the concert of pure musical magic presented by Alasdair Malloy, concert presenter extraordinaire, families can arrive early for the pre-concert activities. With a variety of musical craft activities and opportunities to try orchestral instruments, there is plenty to keep the whole family occupied.
Oxford Philomusica’s Music Director, Marios Papadopoulos, says: ‘This is an important initiative for Oxford Philomusica, inviting the local community to engage with Oxford’s professional orchestra in bringing music closer to young people and their families.’
Our next FUNomusica Family concert is on Sunday 27 October 2013 - click here for details and to book.
'Just right for the children but I think the adults enjoyed it as much (or even more!)'
