1961 Re-enactment Concert
Saturday, 23 June 2012 - 8:00pm

Christ Church

DVORAK– Symphony No. 9 in E minor, Op. 95 ‘From the New World’
WALTON - Crown Imperial (Coronation March)
VERDI – Grand March from Aida
TCHAIKOVSKY – 1812 Overture

Marios Papadopoulos - conductor

The 2011/12 season ends in suitably spectacular style as the Philomusica takes to the great outdoors of Christ Church’s Tom Quad in a memorable midsummer musical extravaganza to celebrate The Queen’s Diamond Jubilee. There will be a sense of history repeating as it is just over 50 years since a similar concert was first put on by students in Tom Quad in 1961. 2012 also marks the bicentenary of 1812, thus the concert’s finale of Tchaikovsky’s famous overture is entirely appropriate.
