Working in Partnership
The partnership between Oxford Philomusica, the Orchestra in Residence at the University of Oxford, and Oxfordshire County Council fosters closer links between Oxford's only professional symphony orchestra and the Oxfordshire County Music Service. Through shared participation in musical events the joint association aims to complement and add value to the already exemplary work undertaken by the Oxfordshire County Music Service for the benefit of the people of Oxfordshire.
Oxfordshire County Music Service
In addition to teaching instruments to thousands of young people in Oxfordshire, the County Music Service provides a wide range of activities, ensembles and Saturday Music Schools. These activities are coached and conducted by professionals who are especially trained to work with children. Children can attend a group from their first term of learning an instrument. They then progress through a structured series of activities, culminating in the County Music Service’s top groups that are amongst the finest in the country.
